After the recent release of the new Tek Tier patch, Studio Wildcard has announced the addition of new experimental servers with no pet dinos! These servers will have a large 120 person capacity, however players will not be able to tame, ride or breed any of the creatures that can be found roaming the ARK landscape. Remember this is not a game-wide policy, merely a small test by Studio Wildcard.
ARK without Taming?
Developers are interested to see how players react and adapt in a world without their trusty T-Rex. Admin Jat from the ARK community forums stated:
“ARK has a lot of core survival elements to it, and we wanted to see how players would find playing the game without the help of their tames. Of course, this doesn’t mean we’re moving to a non-dino focused environment, it’s just another customisation we’ve introduced for everyone”
The question is, is ARK a good enough survival game on its own? One of the key features that brings in the players is the ability to tame dinosaurs and ride them across the landscape. These prehistoric pets are extremely helpful for collecting resources, and laying siege to someones base. So what happens when you remove that feature?
It must be said, however, that the developers did take into account the loss in resource assemblance. And as compensation for playing with no pets, the servers will have a 2x multiplier for harvesting and XP.
What do you think? Will these new servers bring a nice change to ARK: Survival Evolved? Or will you miss sticking a saddle on a berry filled Parasaurolophus. Let us know in the comments.
