The FPS-RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is to get a multiplayer mode. After all the problems, especially on the PS4 and Xbox One, the developers are now contacting investors on the subject.
That’s going on: Actually, the multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2077 should be tackled as soon as the release has been successfully completed. The release problems, such as countless bugs, poor performance, and above all the really lousy console ports have thrown these plans overboard.
Since the release on December 10th, several patches have been released that have already fixed a few of the problems. Further major updates are planned for January and February. So the developers currently have a lot to do.
According to the magazine Comicbook.com, there was now a telephone conference between Cyberpunk 2077 developers CD Projekt Red and the investors. The investors asked about multiplayer and CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski gave the following answer:
“At the moment please let us handle the situation, and please let us make some more assessments – that’s still ahead of us; we don’t know yet, and we’re now focused on improving Cyberpunk. We’ll discuss this early next year.”
So it is currently unclear when the multiplayer will be tackled or whether it will probably be canceled entirely. We may get the answer to that in early 2021.
