During the "Dragon's Dogma 2 Showcase," Capcom has announced the release date of the role-playing sequel. The Japanese developer and publisher has also opened preorders for the title.
According to the latest trailer for Dragon's Dogma 2, the action role-playing game will be released on March 24, 2024. Unlike its popular predecessor, this narrative single-player adventure will also be available directly on PC (via Steam). Additional release platforms include PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The new gameplay footage from Dragon's Dogma 2 was part of the Dragon's Dogma 2 Showcase stream, which aired on November 28th on YouTube. The hosts, Game Director Hideaki Itsuno and Producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, also provided insights into the game's pre-order editions and bonuses.
In addition to the physical standard edition priced at 65 Euros, which includes only the full version of Dragon's Dogma 2, Capcom also offers a physical deluxe edition for 75 Euros. The latter includes the following "starter aids":
Preorders for the digital standard edition come with a bonus weapon for each of the game's four starting vocations, while preorders for the digital deluxe edition also receive the "Ring of Safety."
The first edition of Dragon's Dogma gained a large following back in 2012. This Gothic-like role-playing game benefited from its freely explorable game world and its unique pawn system, which allowed the player to have up to four AI companions chosen from a large pool.
Dragon's Dogma 2 retains all the essential elements of its predecessor, including the third-person perspective, and introduces a new Illusionist vocation to the class system. The story takes place in a parallel world where two nations with different approaches are fighting against the dragons.
The first nation, the Kingdom of Vermund, is known for its Queen Regent Disa, who employs a false Arisen to secure power for her son. Battahl, the other nation, sees the "different" pawns as a source of misfortune and has turned to the worship of the Radiant Flame and Empress Nadinia to confront the threat of dragons.
Other highlights: Dragon's Dogma 2 also introduces the use of photogrammetry in character creation, aiming to create an even more realistic appearance for the Arisen hero or heroine. Additionally, the personality of the main pawn can be determined, influencing available dialogue options and the pawn's general behavior.
How do you like the new feature announcements, and do you plan to get the continuation of the Arisen adventures? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
