What is it about? Modern Warfare 2 has been suffering from minor problems since release. One of these problems is connecting to a server or a match. There are always problems connecting to Modern Warfare 2's servers, to the point where players wait minutes to find a match, only to discover that their connection screen is bogged down. Modern Warfare 2 match search hangs when connecting - This is how it works again

When does the error appear? The problem with the connection to matchmaking in Modern Warfare 2 usually appears when you are in a lobby with 2 or more players. At least that is our personal experience with the bug.modern-warfare-2-stuck-on-connection-verbindung

How to fix the connection problem: Otherwise, we advise you to verify the data or update your drivers. However, with this bug in MW2, there is nothing you can do except apply the following workaround to fix the eternal connection:

  • Leave the current game mode with your friends (Leave with Party).
  • Go to the menu where you select the game mode.
  • Start the Hostage Rescue mode and wait until it says "Search for match PING X" in the bottom left corner.
  • Exit the search again with your lobby and switch to Quick Play mode.

From here, search for a new multiplayer match as usual. If you followed the instructions above, you should now be able to find a round again. As with Hostage Rescue, the bottom left window should no longer say join forever, but Search for Match. Now you just wait for the match to happen, and you can destroy your opponents again!
