In Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, it seems we will receive several maps from Modern Warfare 2 (2022), as confirmed by the developers, who are also making a big promise — more on that below!
- Modern Warfare 3 will receive maps from the 2022 release of Modern Warfare 2.
- It is already known that MW3 will contain 16 maps from MW2 from 2009.
- A total of 4 maps from MW2 (2022) will be introduced directly at the start, including Mercado.
COD Modern Warfare 3 Gets Maps from MW2 (2022) – All Maps at Launch
Even before Season 1 of Modern Warfare 3, 4 maps from the 2022 release of Modern Warfare 2 are to be introduced:
- Farm 18
- Mercado
- Shoothouse
- One unknown map so far
The developers are not making graphical adjustments to the maps. However, there are changes to the layout and structure of the maps to better adapt them to the new movement of Modern Warfare 3. These 4 maps will appear alongside the already announced 16 maps from COD: MW2 from 2009.

No New Content Will Be Cut for MW2 Maps
On the developer’s website, the team explains that they will not cut any fresh content for the currently four new — rather old, huh? — maps. According to the developer, the maps are simply a nostalgic addition and not a replacement for other maps.
For this reason, the maps will be playable in a separate playlist. Unfortunately, you will not be able to play the new game modes that come with Modern Warfare 3 on them.
Our Thoughts: In the Guided editorial office, I have already spoken to several editors. We are mainly surprised that the MW2 maps from 2022 in Modern Warfare 3 are rather unpopular maps. Due to the above-mentioned reworks, however, I believe that the MW2 (2022) maps in MW3 are much more playable — hopefully.
