Season 3 will soon start in Overwatch 2, and this will once again bring balance changes to some heroes. The adjustments have already been teased, and we'll tell you what to expect.
Here's what's going on: Season 3 in Overwatch 2 should be starting soon. Since Blizzard already said that a new Season starts every 9 weeks, the next one should start on February 7. So far, there are no official patch notes about the changes, but Blizzard employees have already teased a few hero adjustments, and Ultimate nerfs in various Twitter posts and interviews. YouTuber Stylosa has picked out all the information, which we summarize here.
The first major change is to the Ultimate ability. More specifically, the 30% Ultimate charge transfer when changing a hero. This has been criticized by tank players in particular, as there are already a lot of balance issues among tanks anyway, which exacerbated them. Healers and DDs were also affected, but not nearly as much. Blizzard has not yet commented on this, but they want to take care of it in Season 3. At least that's what a tweet from Jared Neuss, the executive producer of Overwatch 2, says:
Currently, however, we do not yet know to what extent this will be changed. It could be that simply the % number is reduced or the charge transfer is completely revised.
The heroes will also get buffs and nerfs or will be completely reworked. Not all changes are known yet, we will only find out about them in the upcoming patch notes. Nevertheless, there are already a few details and leaks, which we would like to summarize for you here:
There is no more information about the upcoming changes of the heroes. Season 3 will probably start on February 7, and until then, Blizzard will provide more blog posts and official patch notes. We'll keep you up to date on this, of course.
