Season 3 of Overwatch 2 is packed with events and a new map. We will add the full patch notes to the end of this post as soon as they are available. Here, we'll focus on the highlights of the update.

This is the New Control Map: Antarctic Peninsula

With Season 3, you can look forward to a new map that should already be familiar to attentive fans. The control map is the Antarctic Peninsula, which already appeared in the short film about Mei from 2017.

The new Control Mode map offers plenty of flanking opportunities, some of which have a height advantage over heavily trafficked areas and objective points.

New Theme: Asian Mythology

As in previous updates, Season 3 thematically visits a certain theme. In this case, it's Asian mythology, and first and foremost, Kiriko gets a new mythical skin. However, this skin is only available in the Premium Battlepass. This skin was inspired by various deities of Japanese mythology and has customization options to match the theme of the moon, sea, and storms.

More Rewards

Unlocking new skins in Overwatch 2 has been a lengthy endeavor so far. This is supposed to change at least a little with Season 3. The Battlepass will offer more levels so that you can earn 1,500 credits in the free version and 500 credits in the premium version more than before.

The 300 skins from Overwatch 1 that you couldn't unlock before can now be easily purchased in the Hero Gallery in exchange for Overwatch coins or credits. Furthermore, the price of the epic skins has been reduced by 400 credits.

However, in addition to the Battlepass, Season 3 offers more skins and rewards you can unlock through events. If you log in to the game in the next 5 days, you will also receive the first 5 Battlepass levels for free, and the upcoming Twitch Drops promise great rewards.

Overwatch 2 Season 3 Offers Numerous Events

Overwatch 2 wants to offer numerous events in Season 3 and, as is typical for February, starts with a Valentine's Day event. But other events, collaborations and celebrations are also coming up:

  • Dating Sim Loverwatch: February 13 to 18 – A text-based dating sim where you can choose between Mercy and Genji and flirt with them.
  • Ultimate Valentine's Day: February 14 to 28 – 4v4 Hanzo mode where you can unlock two skins.
  • One Punch Man Cooperation: March 7 to April 6 – The first big cooperation starts with One Punch Man and brings many rewards in the anime style to the game.
  • Pachimarchi: March 21 to April 4 – Limited time game mode with many rewards.

The full patch notes for the update will follow tomorrow; we will update the article accordingly then.
