Indie developers Videocult have released a new trailer for survival platformer Rain World. In a hauntingly beautiful 2D apocalypse, you take on the role of Slugcat – a creature that is half snail and half cat.
The Hunters and the Hunted
In a broken ecosystem filled with dangers, you are a Slugcat, a spear wielding cross between a cat and a snail. When a devastating flood separates you from your family, you must brave the torrential rains to seek food and shelter. Clamber through the ruins of ancient civilisations, evading ravenous predators while discovering new lands filled with strange creatures and hidden mysteries. Find your family before you meet your untimely end.

Inspired by the “simplicity and aesthetics of 16-bit classics”, Rain World requires you to find your prey and escape your hunters. Every enemy that gets in your way is voracious, sly and relentless – willing to sink its teeth into your body, or sometimes into the bodies of your fellow-creatures. As a small, soft Slugcat, you have to rely on stealth rather than violence. Get to know the ecosystem and use it to your advantage to survive a vast world containing over 1,600 rooms spread across 12 diverse regions.
Developed by Videocult and published by Adult Swim Games, Rain World will be released for PS4 and Steam for PC on March 28, 2017.
