A coalition of well-known charitable organizations within the gaming industry has launched a joint fundraising campaign. "Stronger Together in Games" aims to address issues within the gaming industry and the gaming community.
From November 28 until the end of this year, the fundraising campaign "Stronger Together in Games" is running through the Givebutter website. This is a fundraising effort by nonprofit organizations in the video game industry. With a target fundraising amount of $100,000, the campaign's initiators intend to tackle problems within the gaming industry as well as issues within the gaming community.
In a video statement on the topic, which can be viewed below, representatives of the coalition explain the current challenges. Industry employees are currently grappling with issues such as layoffs and uncertain career prospects, while gamers are increasingly dealing with loneliness and a toxic online environment.
They emphasize the need for resources to support mental health as well as educational and networking opportunities.
Stronger Together in Games consists of the following nonprofit organizations:
Igda aims to enhance the careers and lives of game developers by promoting their professional development and advocating for issues that concern the developer community. The other organizations focus on providing psychological support for game developers and engage in efforts related to diversity and inclusion.
As part of the Stronger Together in Games campaign, prominent industry leaders and content creators will host a 24-hour charity livestream on Friday, December 8, starting at 8 AM PST. This livestream can be viewed on the campaign's Givebutter page linked at the beginning of the article.
The press release did not specify the exact industry leaders and content creators who will be participating in the event.
