Embark Studios have invited to a closed test for the upcoming shooter The Finals. Here we could try out the new map Las Vegas 2032 and the Ranked Tournament. Co-Founder & Shooter Expert Kevin Willing tells you what you can look forward to soon.
Article Highlights:
Until the Game Awards, it was "keep quiet," but now we can finally tell you that The Finals will be released unexpectedly on 12/08/2023 and will be playable right after the Game Awards. The shooter is available on Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam.
During the digital event by Embark, we were able to participate in a total of three rounds of Ranked Tournament. Here, eight teams of three players each start, and after each round, the two poorer teams are excluded. We played the whole thing on the new map Las Vegas 2032.
Las Vegas 2032 changes over the course of a tournament and offers a lot of variety:
The last variant, in particular, amazed us. The map and the city are suddenly buried under a meter-thick layer of sand. This change has not only visual effects but also forces us to apply new tactics repeatedly. Where we could previously barricade ourselves in a hotel in clear sunshine, all rooms are now flooded with sand — there's not much left to barricade.
Moreover, routes from previous rounds no longer work, which used to take us quickly to the various cashes. Instead of sprinting protected through the casino halls and restaurants, we have to use the open roofs. At least here we find some pipes and roof exits that protect us from enemy fire.
Will this feature be available for every map? It is still unclear whether this type of levelution will be a permanent part of every map in The Finals. However, it is extremely unlikely that Las Vegas 2032 will remain the only map with this special feature. As soon as we know more, we will update this article with the latest information.
