What’s the matter with the blood? Blood in DayZ is not directly connected to the life bar, but makes you stronger or weaker, faster or slower, colored or gray, depending on your status. If you have low blood levels, you will also suffer continuous shock damage that kills you.
How to make and use blood bags correctly – this is how it works
What you need for blood bags: In order to make blood bags that your friends or you really heal, you have to gather some items. You will find each of these medical items in large quantities:
- Rapid blood type test
- Blood collection set
- IV start kit
- A willing friend, a fresh corpse, or yourself
First, you test yourself and your recipient or donor using a rapid blood type test. You can check whether you are compatible or not in the blood type table in the next point. Since the latest DayZ update 1.14, it is also sufficient if you draw your blood. The filled blood pack will then show you which blood group you have.
If your blood type is compatible, you grab the collection set and draw blood from yourself or your friend. But before you administer it, you have to combine it with an IV starter kit to create a blood bag IV.
What happens if the blood type is wrong? If you accidentally – or intentionally – give your friend the wrong blood type via transfusion, the consequences are serious. Such an error is fatal in most cases. The recipient keeps losing blood until he ends up dying.

There are so many blood types in DayZ: just like in the real world. Because DayZ does not combine any blood type. If you know which blood type are really compatible, you will also know that in DayZ – if not, then here is a blood type table:

Regenerate blood quickly even without a blood bag
There is more than one way to regenerate blood in DayZ. In addition to the blood bag, you still have the option to escape from any fighting, to wait, and to eat enough. There are different types of food. The healing process begins even with low satiety and thirst-quenching of your character.
The fuller the symbols of food and liquid, the faster you heal yourself. Here you can see how big the difference is on the spectrum. Note that the maximum saturation is 7500 and the maximum liquid is 5000:
Little regeneration
- Food: 200 – 399
- Liquid: 300 – 599
- Blood regeneration: 0.075 ml / s
High regeneration
- Food: approx. 7000
- Liquid: approx. 4500
- Blood regeneration: 0.30 ml / s
What are the benefits of a saline bag: A saline solution or saline bag IV is another way to replenish your blood level. The pack instantly heals up some of your health points and blood and makes it easier for your digital body to regenerate more blood. A Saline-Bag-IV or saline solution can also give you relief from dehydration — even if only slightly.

- 1x Saline-Bag
- 1x IV starter kit
- Combine the two items, and you’re good to go.
