The funny but absolutely deadly “Hand Cannon” or Foam Finger in Dead Space has also found its way into the remake, and we tell you how to get it.
This is the Hand Cannon: First appearing in Dead Space 2, the Hand Cannon is a foam-finger-weapon meant for hardcore players. Unlocking it isn’t easy, but in return, you’ll be rewarded with a weapon that can destroy anything with just a Bang! or Pew! It comes in the form of a red foam finger.
How to Unlock the Hand Canon in Dead Space
You’ll need to complete the game on the highest difficulty level to unlock the infamous Foam Finger in Dead Space Remake. The “Impossible” difficulty is aimed at Dead Space veterans and presents you with the following challenge:
- You take a lot more damage.
- Enemies can withstand much more.
- Automatic saving is disabled.
- You only have one save slot,
- You have only one life. If you die, the game is over or you continue on Hard.
So you can see that this difficulty level is not for the faint. At best, you should already know the game – either through a previous playthrough or through the original and use all the tricks at your disposal.
Once you’ve managed to play through the game on the highest difficulty level, you’ll unlock various rewards in the New Game+ mode:
- 50,000 credits
- 10 power nodes
- Text logs
- Suit level 6
- Burnished suit
- Hand Cannon
Here you can find the Foam Finger: To get the Foam Finger now, start the game in New Game+ and progress through the game until you reach the store at the end of the first chapter. There you can put the Foam Finger in your inventory and equip it.

The Hand Cannon is a particularly hilarious weapon. Isaac stands out quite a bit in the otherwise very gory Dead Space with the red Foam Finger. The weapon also has 2 firing modes; Bang! and Pew! But the remarkable thing about the weapon is its incredibly high damage. The foam finger can finish any enemy, including bosses, with just one hit. It is the deadliest weapon in the game. So for further runs, for example to find all trophies, the weapon is perfect.
