MK 1: Sub-Zero Combos Guide
As in previous parts of the game, Sub-Zero is still as strong and deadly as ever. He is definitely a real threat to many other powerful characters, such as Scorpion or Mileena. In the game, you will find many familiar attacks from the previous parts of the game, but there will also be many new ones that will definitely surprise you. To show you all the available combos, we use a unique button indexing. This way, regardless of your device, you can look at the screenshot above to understand which buttons to press when we describe the combos. Some of them will be more complicated than others, so you’ll need to practice before you go into battle. Well, let’s find out what combos you can use.
Combos | Description |
F1 + 2 + BF3 | 2 hand hits that disorient the enemy, after which you take out an ice spear and hit them on the legs, throwing them into the air, and then hit again with the spear, throwing them to the ground. |
2 + 1 + DF4 | You deal two punches with your hands that freeze the enemy, then summon ice spikes underneath them that deal damage. |
B3 + BF3 | You kick the enemy in the leg, and then, using the ice that has formed on the ground, pierce the enemy with a spear and throw them to the ground. |
B2 + J1 + 2 | You bounce back, forming an ice clone instead. If the enemy hits it, them will freeze, after which you take out an ice chain mace, which you use to hit your opponent by throwing them in the air, performing combos of hits, and throwing them to the ground with a mace. |
B2 + J1 + 2 + F1 + 2 + 3 | You take out an ice chain mace, which you use to deal 2 blows to the enemy, which throw them into the air. While in the air, you perform a punch with your hand and the chain mace, which throws the enemy to the ground. Before they fall, you deal 2 more punches with your hands and then a kick to the head when they are almost on the ground. |
B2 + J1 + 2 + F1 + 2 + BF3 | The combination is identical to the previous one, but instead of the last kick, you hit the opponent with the spear, throwing them back into the air and impaling on the spear to throw them to the ground. |
B2 + J2 + 2 + DB4 | You perform two hits with your chain ice mace, which results in throwing your opponent into the air. While in the air, you deal 2 more hits, and while the enemy is falling, you perform a diagonal ice attack to deal one more hit before the enemy lands on the ground. |
B2 + J2 + 2 + exDB4 + 2 + 1 | The beginning is identical to the previous one, but instead of a diagonal attack, you land on the ground and summon ice spikes that the enemy falls on and flies back into the air. Now, while he’s falling, you deal 2 more ice attacks that cause significant damage and land the enemy on the ground. |
B2 + J2 + 2 + exDB4 + F1 + 2 + BF3 | It’s identical to the previous attack, but at the end, you take out an ice spear, which you use to throw the enemy into the air, then pierce them into the weapon and throw them to the ground. |
B2 + J2 + 2 + 2 | Using the ice chain mace, you throw your opponent into the air. In the air, you deal a few hits and then perform an attack that freezes the enemy and throws them diagonally to the ground far away from you. |

How to Play Sub-Zero in MK 1: Guide & Tips
Considering that Sub-Zero hasn’t changed much since the previous parts, the tips will be more basic and well-known. Your main advantage will be freezing your opponent. Luckily, Sub-Zero has enough attacks that you can freeze the enemy, or counter-attack by turning them into an icicle. Freezing will give you a significant advantage in battle, so don’t neglect it.
Another good tip is to use combos in the air. Unlike Havik, Sub-Zero has many more opportunities to attack the enemy in the air and deal significant damage. Most of the combos we’ve described above are based on air attacks, so if you learn how to perform them correctly, you’ll be unbeatable in combat.
