Under Windows, Red Dead Redemption 2 stores your savegames in a location that you normally don’t have in view. We’ll tell you the exact savegame location.
Where Red Dead Redemption 2 Stores Your Savegame in 2023
This is the location where Red Dead Redemption 2 stores your play progress:
C:\Users\Your Username\OneDrive\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Profiles\Hexadecimal Number\ |
The hexadecimal number is a combination of letters and numbers, for example “532F6A9”. This folder contains your saved games, see also the screenshot below. If you want to copy them to an external harddrive, it’s best to make a backup of the whole folder, because you’ll probably want to keep your individual game settings (graphics, controls). Otherwise only the files named “SRDR…” are relevant.

Step-by-step instructions: Open Windows explorer and click on “Documents” in the left panel (“This PC”). In the folder view, scroll down to the “Rockstar Games” folder if necessary. There you will find the folder “Red Dead Redemption 2”, which contains, among other things, the folder “Profiles”. This is where all of your player profile data is stored, including your customized graphics and control settings.
Under “Profiles” you’ll see the mentioned folder named with a hexadecimal number. This value is something like your individual identifier, so the name will be different for each player.
