Redfall is fun in co-op mode, however, some vampire hunters can't even start a friends session. If you're one of those unlucky ones, here's what you can do about the problem.
Co-op in Redfall doesn't work, what can you do? Arkane's open world shooter Redfall has been released in a technically poor state. In addition to performance problems, even on strong hardware, players also report that co-op games do not work. Is Redfall's co-op mode possibly broken?
As is often the case with things that involve a PC or a console, this bug can have several causes. Among other things, it is not even due to the supposedly defective technology, though.
If you have a problem with Redfall's co-op mode, you should first know that it does not work in-game. This means that your online companions cannot join an ongoing single-player game, as it is possible in some other games. So, you'll have to host a co-op party via the game's start menu in any case.
You must have already played Redfall on your own: Also, Redfall's multiplayer option is currently probably conditional. Thus, all participants of an online session must have played Redfall alone before. Unfortunately, it is not enough to enter the game alone and stake a few vampires out of existence, but a certain point in the story must be reached. To be precise, Redfall only allows co-op sessions once a save game with an unlocked base is available. This will take about an hour to complete.
Anyway, if a session with friends cannot be started under these circumstances, then a technical problem could be the cause. A workaround or fix for this case is not yet known, but a simple restart of the game might help.
If this doesn't help either, Redfall should be completely reinstalled. We will keep it rolling and update this article as soon as there are further solutions.
