In this guide, you will learn how to solve the Ancient Altar puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3 by putting the correct item into it.
At some point in Act 2, you will finally reach Moonrise Towers, and after a short dialogue with the baddies, you will be free to go around and explore. After you seek into the Balthazar’s room and press a secret book on the bookshelf, you will see the Ancient Altar appearing in front of you, and this is where most players get stacked. BG3 Ancient Altar Puzzle – Balthazar Secret Door
You can see a bunch of bodies lying around the room, and they were probably used for Balthazar’s experiments. All you have to do is to pick up a heart from any of the bodies and just put it in the Ancient Altar. After this, the puzzle will be solved and a secret room will be opened. Moonrise Towers Balthazar’s Secret Room
After you get inside, you will notice a bunch of dead tadpoles, which means that Balthazar was experimenting with tadpoles. Also, on the table, you can find a few Dead Pixies and Broken Moonlanters, as well as a chest in the other part of the room. But, unfortunately, there will be no worthy loot inside. On the other hand, it will inspire some of your characters.
