You can upgrade your tools to advance as you progress through the game. These tool upgrades in Disney Dreamlight Valley are always tied to several requirements. We'll show you how to get all the upgrades easily.
In total, you'll get four different tools in Disney Dreamlight Valley at the beginning:
Except for the fishing rod, there are upgrade options for each tool. To get these upgrades, you usually need various materials, which you have to collect first. Moreover, the tool upgrades are tied to individual Disney characters, which means that you'll have to make sure to maintain your friendship with the respective resident enough to reach the necessary friendship level.
In our guide, we'll introduce you to all the upgrades for your tools in Disney Dreamlight Valley. We'll explain how to unlock these upgrades and also what you can do with the upgraded tool.
Immediately after you start the game, you'll keep coming across paths that are blocked by tree stumps. With the shovel upgrade, you can easily dig up these barricades. You will receive wood for every stump you dig up. To unlock the upgrade you need to fulfill the following requirements:
As part of this quest, Anna will ask you to access a path across a blocked bridge. However, you can only do this if you have completed the shovel upgrade. For this you will need the following materials:
Once you have materials together, you can craft the shovel upgrade at any crafting station. Select "Use" once in your inventory to use the upgraded shovel permanently.
There are not only tree stumps blocking your paths, but also big purple mushrooms. To destroy them, you need the watering can upgrade. To do this, you need to increase your friendship level with Merlin to level eight.
At level eight, Merlin will give you the quest "A Dark Experiment". In this quest, Merlin will ask you for a variety of materials. Collect them and give them to the wizard to be able to use the watering can upgrade permanently:
You can collect mushrooms in the Glade of Trust.
You can earn several upgrades for your pickaxe at once. Depending on the upgrade, you can use your pickaxe to chop ice chunks, boulders, or coral.
Start by recruiting Moana. Once that's done, you can also set about recruiting Maui. Next, make friends, because, for the quest that gives you the Coral Pickaxe upgrade, you need to increase the friendship level with Maui to level six. Then you'll be able to start the quest “A Tale of Stone and Fire”, after completing which you'll get the coral upgrade. As part of this quest, Maui will require you to make a five-star dish.

Breaking coral creates sand that you can collect.
For the ice pickaxe upgrade, you'll need to recruit Elsa. Elsa will only get into Dreamlight Valley if you have already successfully recruited Anna. So recruit Anna first, and then make friends with Elsa.
Finish Elsa's quest du get the ice pickaxe-upgrade.
The first thing you need to do now is complete Elsa's quest "Breaking the Ice", which already allows you to destroy small chunks of ice. The quest requires you to brew the potion "Warmth of Summer". For this you need to collect the following ingredients:
Bring the finished potion to Elsa for the first ice pickaxe upgrade. Continue to improve your friendship with Elsa until you can complete the quest "The Singing Ice". Here you first have to collect resources again:
Give the flowers to Elsa. She will turn them into an icy bouquet and then ask you for more materials:
You can now combine these new resources with the icy bouquet of flowers at your crafting station to create the “Winter Cold” potion. Once you have given the potion to Elsa, you will receive the second Ice Pick upgrade.
