Unfortunately, there is very little information available for the quest “The Arisen's Shadow” in Dragon's Dogma 2. There is even no quest marker on the map. This guide will show you what the mission is all about and what decision you should make at the end.
Highlights:
You may have already activated the quest without knowing it. As soon as you have completed a certain number of main quests for Captain Brant in Vernworth, “The Arisen's Shadow” will automatically appear in the quest menu of Dragon's Dogma 2. If this is the case, you should always keep your eyes open, at least if you are currently in the Commoner's Quarter. Sooner or later, you will notice a figure in dark clothing sprinting away as soon as you come near it.
This is the NPC Bermundo. He is the shadow that is following you. Your task now is to catch the shadow. Fortunately, this is not too difficult. Sprint after Bermundo as soon as you see him. Once you have caught up with him, you must grab him and throw him to the ground to start a conversation with him. Use the R2/RT button to grab him.
In the conversation with Bermundo, you will find out that the NPC is an agent. He now presents you with a choice. You can either accept a payment from Bermundo and let him go, or you can refuse the offer.

If you reject the bribe, you will have to fight Bermundo. There are two possible scenarios here. Either the fight is interrupted by Brant before Bermundo dies, or he dies. Whether Brant appears or not depends on how many main quests you have already completed. If Brant intervenes and takes Bermundo to a cell, you can only complete the quest by talking to the captain three days later at the Stardrop Inn.
You will receive 1,000 experience points and 4,000 gold this way. If you defeat Bermundo, you will only receive 1,000 experience points. However, you can resurrect Bermundo later to receive the full reward.
If you accept the bribe from Bermundo, the quest “The Arisen's Shadow” in Dragon's Dogma 2 will end at this point. Taking the Money is therefore the quicker and more lucrative end. Because this way you get 1,000 experience points and 5,000 gold.
