The main source for Wax extraction will be beehives. In general, there are two methods to access them: manually search or create them yourself. Let's start with the first one. You can find them on trees. They look like large white cocoons. If you see one, just walk up to it and click the interact button to collect the resources. You will get Wax as well as Honey.
You won't find hives often, but they're not rare either. In most cases, they can be found at the starting locations, so you shouldn't have a problem if enemies attack unexpectedly because they will be weak. Here are some locations where you can find hives:

Now let's move on to a more effective method of obtaining Wax. To do this, you will need to create your own Honey Beehive, but there are a few requirements before you can do so. First, you will need to unlock the recipes. To do this, you will need to complete the quest “Stronger Together”, go north, and visit the Ancient Vault to free the Farmer from there. If you've already done it, then proceed to the next step, which is to create a Beehive Smoker. If you don't craft it, you can't access the Honey Beehive craft, so here are the resources you'll need:
