An important tool for improving your wizard skills in Hogwarts Legacy are the talents. However, you can’t use these talents right from the start; you have to unlock them first.
Here’s the deal: The talents are important, for example, to strengthen your spells, to unlock more slots for spells or to improve your character. At the beginning of your journey to Hogwarts, however, you don’t have access to the talent menu yet. You’ll have to unlock it by completing a specific quest in the main story.

How to unlock the talents in Hogwarts Legacy
The main story of Hogwarts Legacy includes many different quests. One of them is called “Jackdaw’s Rest”. You need to activate this quest. Shortly before its end, the talents will unlock automatically.
Important: In order to start the quest “Jackdaw’s Rest”, you must first complete the second assignment from Professor Hecat. Once you’ve done that, you’ll receive the Expelliarmus spell, 260 XP and access to Professor Sharp’s first assignmentas a reward.
Once you’ve started “Jackdaw’s Rest”, the quest info displayed right above the minimap will tell you what step you need to take next to advance the quest.
Towards the end of the quest, this will automatically take you to a map chamber where you need to talk to the portrait of Percival Rackham. Now the talent menu will be automatically unlocked and a short mini-tutorial will start for it. From now on you can distribute your talent points among the different talents.
Attention: Think carefully about how you distribute your talent points! Once you have chosen a talent, you can no longer undo it for this character!
