One of the decisions we faced in BG3 was whether to rescue a rather controversial creature named Brakkal, who is imprisoned in the Shattered Sanctum location. By choosing to free him, we got rewarded with the approval of some party members, so this guide will show you how to save Brakkal in the Goblins Camp in Baldur's Gate 3.

Contents of the Guide: In this guide, you'll learn how to get some companion's approval by choosing to save Brakkal.

  • We will tell you what needs to be done to save Brakkal.
  • You will learn how to unlock the cage in which Brakkal is imprisoned so that he remains unharmed.
  • In addition, you will find out whether it is worth saving Brakkal in the Goblins Camp.

Brakkal in Baldur's Gate 3

Once you come across Brakkal locked in a wooden cage hanging over a cliff, don't rush to free him right away, as you might trigger a trap that could explode and kill the NPC. We recommend that you talk to him first to make sure you want to rescue him, as he will tell you in the dialog about his faith in Maglubiyet regardless of the Absolute rise.

If you've decided to release Brakkal from goblin capture, you need to follow these steps:

  • After the conversation, you can interact with the cage by pressing Disarm, which will attract the goblins guarding the prisoner. These enemies are not very dangerous, so feel free to choose the Attack option after a short phrase from the Narrator.
  • Once you've dealt with the security, you can safely proceed to disarm the trap.
  • Make sure your character has a sufficiently high Dexterity Skill level, as disarming will require you to pass a Sleight of Hand Ability Check of Difficulty Class 15, as well as a Disarm Kit or key that can be picked up from one of the dead guards.
  • After that, you will need to unlock the cage by passing a DC-10 Sleight of Hand Ability Check.

When you release Brakkal, he will thank you, and you will also receive approval from companions with an acolyte background, such as Shadowheart.
