The announcement of the upcoming Necropolis League for Path of Exile 3.24 came with updates regarding the beta for Path of Exile 2. Regrettably, there were no positive developments to report.
News Overview:
The Path of Exile 2 beta was originally due to start at the beginning of June this year. However, in today's livestream for the announcement of the new Necropolis League, Grinding Gear Games have revealed that the game is currently still in a state where they will not be able to release it until June.
The Game Director, Jonathan Rogers, said that they can't give a new specific date yet. However, they're planning to launch the Beta later this year and also an Alpha. We're eager to see it.
"We underestimated how long it would take to polish the gameplay to a standard we're happy with, although we can finish the game's content on time. We're still holding an Alpha in June, but we're postponing the Beta to later this year."
But there was also positive news about Path of Exile 2. The stream gave us a good portion of new gameplay. This time, a class was introduced that already exists in the first part of PoE, the Ranger class.
The demonstration once again focused on the combination of different skill and support gems. In Path of Exile 2, we have to combine several skills in combination to cause the greatest possible damage.
In the gameplay showcase, we saw, for example, how a Ranger first uses arrows to create a cloud of gas, which is then exploded with another arrow. Such combinations are intended to create a huge variety of different play styles and builds. You can see the full gameplay demonstration in the video below.
Once again, we were particularly impressed by how good Path of Exile 2 looks. The fast-paced gameplay of the Ranger class, with its cool movement abilities, looks like a lot of fun. However, it is more than a little annoying that the Path of Exile 2 beta has now been postponed.
Especially because it felt like we were constantly getting new, but very small “snippets” of Path of Exile 2 over the past few weeks. The hype has increased and increased, only for us to be told: “We're not ready yet, sorry! What do you think? Please let us know in the comments!
