Wildcard already announced the Animated Series for ARK Survival Evolved in 2021 and many expected a release in 2022. Now there is the first long trailer and the release is set for 2023.
Here’s what’s going on: During The Game Awards in December 2021, Wildcard announced not only ARK 2 but also a two-season animated series centered around the adventures of Helena Walker. You know Helena Walker from ARK either through her Explorer Notes or in Genesis as the HLNA drone.
And even though fans were expecting a 2022 release, it’s been quiet on the series’ progress for a very long time. Even at this year’s Game Awards, there was nothing on ARK 2 or the Animated Series. But now there is a first long trailer.
First Long Trailer for ARK Series Shows Tragic Story of Helena
This is what the trailer shows: The over 4-minute long trailer for the first of two seasons shows the backstory of Helena Walker before she ended up in the ARK and also why she ended up there. Everyone who is in the ARK is actually dead and a clone. The story of ARK belongs, even if dinosaurs occur, to the genre of science fiction and is not quite so easy to explain. Nevertheless, the series follows the beginnings of ARK and shows the story before you as a player enter it.
Wildcard describes the first season as follows:
„Featuring an unparalled voice cast with the talents of Michelle Yeoh, Gerard Butler, Russell Crowe, and Executive Produced by Vin Diesel, ARK: The Animated Series is an adaptation of the hit video game. In a sweeping story that spans eons of human & world history, 21st century paleontologist Helena Walker finds herself resurrected on a mysterious primeval land after tragedy. There she must learn to survive and find new allies, or die again at the hands of ruthless warlords — all while trying to uncover the true nature of their strange new world. ARK: The Animated Series will release on a to-be-announced platform in 2023. Join us then for an ageless adventure beyond life & death itself!“
We think that’s particularly cool: We’ve already looked into the story around ARK and find the parallels in the ARK series really exciting. For example, the Guardian bosses that have to be defeated in order to face the Overseer and ultimately leave the ARK are also in the series. At least we can see the Brood Mother Lysrix in the trailer. Whether we will see the other 2 bosses and the Overseer already in the first season, however, remains to be seen. Oh, and Bob as a “player replacement” may not be missing in the series, of course!
Release Sometime in 2023
As the description makes clear, there is no further information from Wildcard regarding the release date yet. However, it should be sometime in 2023. The platform where we can watch the series is also still unknown and will also not be announced until 2023.
