It’s over: The Walking Dead is taking its winter break and, as so often, leaves us with a wide open jaw and a nasty cliffhanger. In this article we will tell you when it will continue and afterwards you will find our recap for the third final.
When will it continue? On Monday, October 11, 2021, the third finals of The Walking Dead aired. For most viewers, there is the series again on Disney +.
The second third of the long final season of the mother series begins on February 22nd, 2022. You can put off the time until then and afterwards with the following “The Walking Dead” projects:
- The Walking Dead: World Beyond Season 2 (Start: 04th October 2021)
- Fear The Walking Dead Season 7 (Start: 18. October 2021)
- The Walking Dead Season 11 3/3 (Start: Q3 2022)
- “Daryl and Carol” spin-off (Start: 2023)
- “Nuclear Submarine” spin-off (Start: no date)
- Rick Grimes Solo Films (Start: no Date)
Admiration and emulation of the Whisperers: Thats how our group fights now?
This is what the third final is about: The focus is on three storylines, two of which are more or less connected and one is absolutely detached and we didn’t have any fun watching it.
While Daryl and Leah get closer and closer and Pope distrusts each other, Maggie, Negan, Elijah and Gabriel try to break into the Reapers’ camp. Here they want to kill the killers and steal back their own supplies.
The other storyline is primarily about Judith and Rosita. But we didn’t really understand why these scenes from Alexandria made it into the episode. A storm is coming and the walkers are breaking into the colony and besides …
Yes, and besides, nothing happens here. We see how Rosita knocks down some muddy heads and that Judith wants to encourage her friend. In the end, the walkers break in the doors and that’s it. We don’t see more here.
Presumably, the Commonwealth will arrive here as Deus Ex Machina (rescue out of the blue) and take our group to the safe area of the Commonwealth. Sounds plausible, but cheeky. We see the end of Alexandria in an immature storm scene. Not particularly exciting in our opinion.
Daryl and Leah team up – aren’t they?
Maggie and her group took advantage of the Whisperer tactics. Negan showed them how to guide and lead the dead. Together with the Walkers, they snuck through a minefield and reached a secret entrance, which Daryl showed them from the wall.
Father Gabe grabs a hidden sniper rifle, Maggie rams the gate in with a pick-up. Daryl and Leah kill Pope, the leader of the Reapers. He wanted to fire a Hwacha into the courtyard where enemies and friends were. Brief Explanation: A Hwacha is an ancient rocket launcher that lets dozens of small ballista arrows rain down on enemies like hail.
In the end, Leah and Daryl didn’t team up. Leah explains to the rest of the Reapers that Daryl betrayed them, but gives him time to escape. She calls all Reapers away from the yard and fires the rockets at Maggie, Daryl and Gabe – that’s it, Cliffhanger.

So it goes on with The Walking Dead Season 11
What happens next? The second third of The Walking Dead season 11 is likely to begin with the arrival of the Commonwealth. The soldiers could then integrate our group into the Commonwealth, as in the comic books. This would then start the internal war, which in the comics ends with the death of the Miltons and the takeover by Rick.
Rick is in CRM somewhere, not the Commonwealth. We expect his leadership role to be taken over by Maggie or Daryl. Negan also seems to play a bigger role than in the comics, here he gets no further assignments after the war against the Whisperers and fades.
