In a short video, the developers of Dying Light 2 speak up and show a short teaser about the game. The video is likely to teaser a release in 2021, in the same breath, the developers ask for further patience from the players.
That's going on: Techland, the Polish developer of Dying Light, announced the successor Dying Light 2 years ago. The release, which was actually planned for 2020, was postponed indefinitely at the beginning of last year. Since then, it has been rather quiet and there was great concern that development would stagnate.
Now the developers have broken their silence, at least somehow. In a short video, they first read out a few of the nasty comments from the players on social media before devoting themselves to the fans.
Techland asks for further patience and promises to present tangible information on the status of the current development soon. They also show a small teaser with new gameplay material and apparently a new type of opponent that is similar to the Volatile:
In a Google form created by the developers, you can currently send questions about the game or the development directly to the Dying Light 2 dev team. They will then answer selected questions in short upcoming FAQ videos.
At the end of the teaser, the number 2021 appears without revealing any further information. It is currently unclear whether the developers want to allude to the release or simply to the fact that they want to present more information this year.
What we think about it: We suspect that Techland is planning the release this year. However, as the developers' current communication policy looks like, Dying Light 2 is currently far from finished and a release is more likely to be expected towards the end of 2021.
