As part of the “Resident Evil Showcase” held online, Capcom revealed new details about Resident Evil: Village. In addition, a playable demo has been made available for the PS5.
What’s going on: On January 21st, Capcom hosted an online showcase focusing on the upcoming Resident Evil: Village. Among other things, there was a trailer with new gameplay scenes.
If you have a PlayStation 5, you can now get an idea of the eighth edition of the cult horror series for yourself thanks to the “Maiden Demo”. PC owners as well as last-gen console players are unfortunately left out.
Village demo shows Lady Dimitrescu
Capcom describes the Resident Evil Maiden demo as a “standalone experience” independent of the main game. The appetizer is therefore located in the world of Resident Evil: Village, but will not be included in the final product.
The length of the exclusive side story is about 20 minutes and introduces the powerful vampire Lady Dimitrescu. You “visit” the eccentric bloodsucker in her dark residence, the Dimitrescu Castle. The vampire lady was already able to inspire the fan base in the first teaser trailer.
Capcom also showed that: The multiplayer shooter Resident Evil Re: Verse also played a major role in the online presentation. Unlike Resident Evil: Village, it relies on death matches between 4 and 6 players in cel-shaded optics.
The very fast-paced gun battles are shown in the series-defining third-person perspective. You can slip into the shoes of veteran RE heroes like Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, or Jack Baker. Nemesis will also be there. All heroes have individual skills.
If you would like to try the shooter now, you can currently apply for closed beta access.
Resident Evil Re: Verse is probably intended as a thank you to all loyal series fans. The rustic shooter will be free for buyers of Resident Evil: Village and will be included with their purchase. Capcom will probably also release a paid standalone version of the game.
When will Resident Evil: Village be released?
Both Resident Evil: Village and Resident Evil Re: Verse will be released on May 7, 2021 for PC, PS4 / 5, and Xbox One / Serie X / S. The pre-orders for the physical and digital Standard Edition have already been opened.
