Rust on the consoles has long been expected by PlayStation & Xbox gamers. Now that dream could come true in 2021, at least if we believe the ESRB.
Does it come? We recently reported that Rust would no longer release on consoles (Xbox & PlayStation) in 2020. Facepunch planned this for the last year, but the corona pandemic thwarted their plans. Rust could now appear on console in 2021. At least one database entry makes us believe that.
What we know: Of course, it is not 100 percent certain that the survival MMO Rust will release on the Xbox and PlayStation consoles in this year. But what we know for sure is that the game has already passed its first test.
At the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB for short), Rust was obviously actually tested for the Xbox Series X / S and the PlayStation 5. It also has an "M" rating for Mature (17+). That will almost certainly be due to the bare skin as well as the bloody gameplay.
However, the website does not state a release. The result of a review at the ESRB is usually shared around 30 days after the review process. So Rust was submitted for testing for the consoles in 2020. Unfortunately, this does not give an exact outlook on the release forecast either. 2021 seems pretty safe!

"This is a multiplayer first-person survival game in which players compete to survive in a hostile environment. Players explore the open-world environment, gather resources, create weapons (e.g., spears, machine guns, explosives), and defend themselves from wild animals and other players.
They can attack and kill enemies in frenetic combat, with successful hits resulting in large splashes of blood. Players can keep shooting animals or humans on the ground (i.e., postmortem damage), accompanied by large blood-splatter effects.
Battles are highlighted by realistic gunfire and explosions. When human enemies are killed, they can be harvested for body parts and cooked for food."
