How blueprints & crafting have worked in Rust so far

How blueprints worked so far: Before the new update was released - which is still pending for Stable-Branch - you could only research an item if you already owned it. So you either had to be extremely lucky or kill a player who owns this weapon or item so you could make it yourself.

Then you put the thing into your research table. It showed you how much scrap it will cost to research the item. It also gave important information about the needed level of your workbench.

The item to be researched was destroyed and in return, you received a blueprint for it. Then you had to click on "Learn Blueprint" in order to build the item yourself.

Random research: As you probably know, you could also put a certain amount of scrap in a workbench and try your luck á la Vegas. Of course, in most cases, the wrong blueprints came out here.

Rust Tech-Tree makes Researching much easier

This is how research is done now: Now you can research blueprints very precisely in Rust. Thanks to the new tech tree in Rust, which is divided into three parts. Each workbench level has its own section of the overall Rust tech tree.

If you interact with a level 1 workbench, you will see the "Open Tech-Tree" button in the lower right corner. The branched tech tree opens up here. It is noticeable that not all blueprints are available here. As already mentioned, these are only the first items that you can research in sequence. Of course, that costs you scrap.

Accordingly, the other items are on the workbench tier 2 and tier 3. That means the end of trying things out and wasting scrap. You are also no longer forced to own an item before you can build it yourself.

That is why the research table remains: But the old method of researching blueprints will not completely disappear. If you find an item or a weapon, you can still turn it into a blueprint for scrap on the research table.

If you then take a look at the appropriate tech tree, you will see that this item is now unlocked. However, you cannot research the following blueprint, as the path must always be connected to the first item in the list.

Conclusion: That's all the information about the new Rust Tech-Tree. If we overlooked something, please kindly let us know in the comments!
