Input latency is one of the most common problems experienced by gamers. It is mainly influenced by your settings, some of which can increase latency. Let's take a look at what you need to do to play CS2 without encountering latency problems:

In Game Settings

Some settings have a significant impact on input lag, here are some of them:

  • Disable Vertical Sync. With Vertical Sync enabled, input lag increases by 15 ms. You will agree that this is quite a lot for one setting. Turning it off will significantly improve the input latency.
  • The Multisampling Anti-Aliasing mode provides an input latency of around 0.89ms. We recommend that you reduce this setting as it will have an important effect on input latency.
  • The Ambient Occlusion setting also has a significant impact on input latency. Reduce this setting to at least Medium for the lowest input latency.
  • Global Shadow Quality is another setting that increases the delay by 0.30ms.
  • Unlock the FPS. Start the game, open the Toggle Console and enter the following command: fps_max 0.
  • Disable Nvidia Reflex. If you have an Nvidia video card, turn off this technology. This should help reduce input latency in CS2.

Nvidia Control Panel Settings

  • Enable Low Latency in Nvidia settings. This is one of the methods that can improve the input latency situation.
  • Prioritise maximum performance. This setting will not only affect input latency but also FPS, which is also very important.
  • Enable Fixed Refresh and High-Performance Texture Filtering. Enabling these settings can improve the input latency situation.

Windows Settings

  • Disable Full-Screen Optimisation. Browse to the local game files, open the game folder, then bin and win64. Right-click on cs2.exe and open its properties. Select the Compatibility tab and disable Full Screen Optimisation.
  • Turn off Game Mode. This mode usually just ruins everything and makes performance worse.
