Here’s what it’s all about: Who did not experience it: you run through forests, cities, and over airfields in DayZ wearing a yellow construction helmet, a blue rain jacket, and best of all, a red glowing, huge backpack. Then you don’t have to be surprised if you get shot over.
The Ghillie Suit is the remedy. Fully made, you are almost invisible in meadows and bushes and can thus secretly fight your way through the forests and landscapes of Chernarus. We’ll show you what you need for the Ghillie Suit, what parts are available, and how to make it.

What you need to make a Ghillie Suit in DayZ
To make such a ghillie suit, you really only need three things – a knife, a lot of burlap bags and also a lot of netting. First, use the knife to cut the jute bags into jute strips. With the strips and the nets you can easily make the individual parts.
All parts for the Ghillie Suit in DayZ
The Ghillie Suit consists of different parts, which we will introduce to you here.
The Ghillie Hood: The ghillie hood is one of the cheapest recipes for the ghillie suit. It covers your head with a hood made of foliage. To make a camo hood you will need:
- 2x burlap strips
- 1x netting
The Ghillie Overcoat: The overcoat covers your shoulders. However, you can no longer wear a backpack. To make this one, you will need:
- 4x burlap strips
- 2x netting
The Ghillie Cloak: In contrast to the ghillie cloak, the cloak additionally covers your entire back. But even with the ghillie cloak you can’t carry a backpack anymore. In addition, the cloak replaces the overcoat. For a ghillie coat you need the following:
- 6x burlap strips
- 3x netting
The Ghillie suit: The actual ghillie suit covers your entire body, except for your head. As with the previous two camouflages, you can wear either the cloak, the overcoat or the ghillie suit. Again, you will not be able to wear a backpack. To make the ghillie suit you will need:
- 10x burlap strips
- 4x netting
Ghillie Gunwrap: In addition to your clothing, you make camouflage for your weapons from the following items:
- 2x burlap strips
- 1x netting
The complete package: For a complete Ghille Suit, you only need to make the ghillie hood for your head, the ghillie suit for your body and the camouflage for your weapon. You’ll be able to hide in the forest and stalk your enemies with ease.
