In Dead Island 2, slaughtering zombies is high on the daily agenda, so you'll want to get some decent combat tactics in early. This guide will tell you how to defeat regular zombies in your sleep.

Fighting tips for Dead Island 2: Especially at the beginning of the new open world zombie slasher, you'll often have to deal with rotting revenants for a long time. But that doesn't have to be the case, especially not with regard to normal zombies, as they can be found in Hell-A at every corner. We have found a few helpful and time-saving tactics against shufflers, walkers and the like. You can find out more about this below.

Dead Island 2: How to Fight Most Effectively

When you engage in a fight with zombies in Dead Island 2, your character often suffers more than just a few scratches. Because from a fighting point of view, the walking corpses aren't half as stupid as their grunts and groans would suggest. But in order to take as little damage as possible, do you really need to make use of the entire attack and movement palette?

No, not even close, at least not when fighting "simple" zombies like infected shufflers or (body armor) walkers. The key to carefree zombie punishment is, for one, your kick, which is assigned to the "E" key in keeping with its status. In addition, the drop kick assigned to the "Space" + "E" keys plays an important role, but more on that in a moment.

For the fight against single zombies or smaller groups of regular zombies you only need your kick (E) and your fists, or better a punching weapon like a modified concrete or iron pipe. The following applies here: If you kick a zombie three times in quick succession, it will stagger and go down shortly afterwards.

Now you can hit and kick the attacker and usually take him out with three or four hits, as long as your weapon does 60 points of damage or more. This procedure is almost foolproof, even against lightly armored zombies. Here you only have to repeat the process once or twice; the undead don't really have anything to counter this.

Dead Island 2 Slayer Claws

Effective weapons such as the "Claws of Slaughter" are of course not to be neglected.

What to do When There Are Many Zombies?

With large groups of zombies (eight and more) it gets a bit more difficult, because you can only knock down one zombie at a time with the triple kick. But: By shamelessly "spamming" the E-key, you can easily keep several attackers at bay and also make them stagger (this requires at most two hits).

However, before you dare to attack larger groups, you should always throw a meat bait in the direction of the zombie mob. These hungry bastards won't be able to resist it, and a zombie that eats won't attack you. You can now give the crouching guys on the ground a good beating before you move on to open combat.

Here, a constant alternation of kicks and armed blows, especially if you mix in drop kicks (empty + E), is recommended. Well-aimed, you can put two or three zombies on their butts at the same time. Of course, you have to use some kind of pull tactics to get a running start for strong dropkicks. This tactic is recommended for groups like the one in the entrance area of the Halperin Hotel, where squads of ten zombies and more form within a short time.
