In Disney Dreamlight Valley, at a certain point you’ll get Maui’s quest “A Tale of Stone and Fire”. In this guide, we’ll explain how to complete the quest, what you need to do it, and what important rewards you’ll receive.

What it’s about: In Disney Dreamlight Valley, you’ll regularly do missions for your friends. In this case, it’s about Maui. He is the strong sea demigod and friend of Moana from the Disney movie of the same name. Maui gives you the quest “A Tale of Stone and Fire” and we’ll tell you everything you need to know about it.

Maui’s Quest – A Tale of Stone and Fire

You will get the quest from Maui once you reach a friendship level of at least 4 with him. Then you can go to Maui and talk to him.

Hint: If you haven’t unlocked Maui and Moana yet, you should go to the Dream Castle open and enter Moana’s Realm for 3,000 Dreamlight. There you will find the two of them and can bring them to your village through a small quest.

Maui finds a big blue chunk on the Dazzle Beach, which you try to destroy. However, it doesn’t work because your pickaxe is too weak. Maui offers you to improve your pickaxe. In return, you have to complete a few missions:

Reward: As mentioned earlier, you will get another pickaxe upgrade when you complete the quest. Therefore, the quest is relatively important if you want to connect the two parts of the beach and need a stronger pickaxe.

Maui’s Quest Part 1: Find the Basket in Moana’s Realm

First, Maui sends you to collect some items from him. To do this, you’ll have to travel to Moana’s Realm again. To do this, go to the Dream Castle and go through the portal or use the quick travel by clicking on the Dream Castle icon on your map and then selecting Moana’s Realm.

You will find the basket in Moana’s realm next to the boat.

Once there, look for Moana’s boat. Right next to it is a small basket. In it you will find the items that you can bring to Maui. With this, you have successfully completed the first part of the quest.

Part 2: Cook a 5-Star-Recipe for Maui

Next, Maui wants you to cook him a dish worthy of a demigod. That means you have to make him a five-star dish.

We suggest you to cook a bouillabaisse. This is one of the easiest 5-star dishes. We have already shown you how to cook a bouillabaisse in another article.

Bring Maui the bouillabaisse or another 5-star dish, and you will have completed the second part of the quest.

Part 3: The Pickaxe Upgrade

In the next step, you will also get the pickaxe upgrade. Go to Maui at the Dazzle Beach and talk to him. He will upgrade your pickaxe and ask you to break one of the big blue boulders. Use your improved pickaxe for that. Inside you will find a broken sandstone. Give it to Maui, and he will give you the task to build a granite fire bowl.

Tip: From now on you can mine all the blue big boulders on the beach.

Destroy a large blue rock for Maui to reveal an item.

Final Part of “A Tale of Stone and Fire” – Craft the Granite Fire Bowl

The last big task that Maui gives you is to build and place a fire bowl. To make it, however, you’ll first need various materials that you’ll have to collect.

Craft the Granite Fire Bowl: Just go to a workbench and make the granite fire bowl for Maui from the following materials under the furniture category:

  • 1x Broken Sandstone
  • 20x Sand
  • 25x Stone
  • 10x Coal
  • 3x Red Falling Penstemon
You can find the red falling penstemon in the Plaza.

Here you can find Red Falling Penstemon: Most of the materials are easy to find. But the various flowers grow only in certain places. For the fire bowl you also need red falling penstemon. You can find this plant everywhere in the main square.

Place the Granite Fire Bowl: Finally, you have to place the fire bowl for Maui. Find a nice place and open your inventory. Under the furniture category you will find the granite fire bowl. Select it and place it in your village.

This completes the quest “A Story of Stone and Fire” for Maui.
