The game provides a huge amount of build options for players to choose from, each with their own strengths, weaknesses, and play styles. Stick around as we’ll show you what you’ll need to make a Sorlock build.
BG3 Sorlock Build Guide
The Sorlock, like any other build, has specific features that make it different from others. In our case, we’ll have to look at both the Warlock and the Sorcerer classes to highlight the differences and features.
The Warlock is highly customizable and can regain spell slots by short resting, while Sorcerers can convert spell slots into sorcery points and use Metamagic.

BG3: Necessary Basics for the Sorlock Build
So, at level 1, you can either pick Warlock for Wisdom or Sorcerer for Constitution Saving Throws. The choice doesn’t matter, as you’ll be able to make the build either way.
Here are the optimal stats for Sorlock:
- 8 STR
- 15 DEX
- 16 CON
- 8 INT
- 10 WIS
- 17 CHA
As you can see, maxing out your Charisma is crucial, as quite a big bulk of your damage as a Sorlock comes from it.
Next, you need to get Warlock Level 2, unlock the Agonizing Blast, and then you will have a choice of either Repelling Blast or Devil’s Sight Invocations. Agonizing Blast is absolutely crucial for the build, while Repelling and Devil’s Sight are not that significant but are a decent bonus nonetheless.
You also need to get your Sorcery to level 3. This will let you unlock the Quicken and Twin Spell metamagic. Quicken is necessary as it will grant you the ability to essentially double your damage.
Any race will work perfectly fine for the Sorlock build, so pick whatever you like. As for gear, anything that increases your Charisma stats will work great.
How to Play Sorlock in Baldur’s Gate 3
Eldritch Blast is a wonderful option to be your main spell because it’s one of the highest damaging cantrips in the game. It offers 1d10 force damage per beam. The number of beams also increases with your character level. At level 5, it’ll increase to 2 beams, and at level 11, it will increase to 3 beams.
But what makes Eldritch Blast even more deadly are the Invocations which unlock at Warlock level 2, especially the Agonizing Blast invocation, which lets you add your Charisma modifier to each beam, thus increasing the damage even more. You can also pick the Repelling Blast invocation, which will grant you the ability to knock enemies back with every beam, alongside Agonizing Blast.
So, at level 11 you’ll be dealing 3d10 force damage per turn, and if you have 16 Charisma, that will add 3 damage to each beam. You can also basically double your damage by casting another Eldritch Blast as a bonus action using the Quicken meta magic, which would give you 6d10+18 force damage in one turn. As you can see, that’s quite a lot of damage.
In summary, Sorlock in BG3 is a build that has the potential for colossal amounts of damage, which is why it’s so popular among players. It’s also quite straightforward to achieve and optimize, so go try it and have fun!
