When we received Ruby, we realized that it is not used in any crafts, which confused us a bit. Later on, we figured out what it's for, so to clear the fog of misunderstanding, we'll tell you how to find and use Ruby in Palworld.

In general, there are 2 ways you can get Ruby. The first one is more time-consuming but better suited for beginners with bad weapons and weak Pals. With the second method, you can get Ruby for sure, but it requires defeating a strong enemy. Which one to choose is up to you, so let's talk about each in more detail.
A method that is great for beginners is to go hunting for Pals from which Ruby drops. In total, we found 3 such Pal:
Among them, for absolute beginners, we recommend focusing on finding specifically Direhowl. These Pal have a rather low level and spawn almost all over the world. In the screenshot above, you can see exactly where they can be found. Getting a Ruby after killing or catching this Pal is not guaranteed, but there is still a certain chance. If you are a more experienced player, we recommend finding Relaxaurus or Vanwyrm, in which case the chance of a drop is much bigger, but accordingly, these Pals are higher level and hit much more painfully.
An alternative for more experienced players is to loot chests in dungeons. We are talking about chests that you can open after you kill the boss of a dungeon.
Finding such dungeons is not difficult, they have a permanent location, and you can visit them from time to time to farm resources, experience, and catch Pals. Each dungeon you find contains a boss of a certain level. You can find out the level of the boss before you enter the dungeon, so if it is much higher than yours, it is better not to risk it.
After carefully exploring the dungeon, you will eventually find the boss. Now, you will only have to kill or capture him, it's up to you. Regardless of the method you choose, when the boss is defeated, you can go to the room behind the area where you fought the enemy. Here, you'll find 2 chests that are highlighted in purple and a totem that will take you back to the surface. So, by opening these chests, you will get rewards, including Ruby. All such chests we have opened have contained Ruby, so we can confidently say it is a guaranteed reward.
We've looked through the entire Technology branch, but no structure, item, or weapon requires Ruby to craft. Then, we decided to look at the item description and found the following information:
"A gemstone that glows red. Can be sold to a merchant for a high price."
The answer was always in front of us, so we went in search of a merchant who would buy Ruby. Luckily, we didn't have to search long because almost in the center of the map, we came across the Small Settlement location, where we found a merchant who stays there all the time. After interacting with him, we managed to sell 5 Rubies for 2500 Gold, which means that the price of 1 gemstone is 500. By collecting a dozen of them, you can easily and quickly accumulate the desired amount of currency to buy, for example, medicines that are in great demand for Pals who work tirelessly on your base.
