The weapon crafting system was totally reworked in the last update. For this reason, next, you will learn how to get all tiers of components in Cyberpunk 2077.
After playing the new expansion, we realized that crafting legendary weapons has become more difficult, but at the same time, higher-tier weapons now feel more valuable, so it’s more rewarding to try hard to get them. As our practice shows, getting high-tier components is the hardest part of the process of crafting a gun, so next, we will shed some light on this.
Components cannot be purchased, but only looted from enemies, crafted, or obtained from junk, clothing, or weapons. The tier of the component depends on the tier of the item you disassembled. For weapons, you will receive 5 pieces, and for clothes and junk, you’ll get 1. It should be noted that you cannot disassemble iconic weapons. To craft 1 component, you will need 5 lower tier components.
We noticed that even at a high level, the enemies mostly dropped tier 1 components, so farming took longer than we expected. But the rest of the loot depends on the level, so we often found tier 3 and tier 4 weapons, which we, of course, disassembled into components.
Legendary weapons can still be bought from vendors, but if you need them for components, it is now unprofitable. It is better to buy legendary and epic clothes. Yes, if you disassemble it, you will get only 1 component, but judging by the money spent, it is several times more profitable than turning weapons into components. However, even this is not the best idea if you don't have much currency. As for junk shops, you can no longer buy legendaries there, which further complicates the acquisition of components.

Basically, the best way to get components is to loot enemies and boxes and just upgrade them into higher-tier components. To get even more items, take the Lucky Day ability. It will increase the number of components you loot by a quarter. To find it, go to the Character tab in the menu and then open Technical Ability.
Legendary weapons have become much more valuable, not only because they are harder to get but because now only tier 5 weapons can be upgraded, so the incentive to get them is much higher.
