When you jump into the Phantom Liberty DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time, you will soon meet the first boss. The Chimera is a combat robot spider from Militech, and it is well-equipped for battle. We'll tell you how to defeat the Chimera in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

Here's the deal: We've only just started Phantom Liberty, and the first boss has already run in front of us. You encounter the Chimera, a Militech battle spider, during the story mission “Spider and the Fly”. The boss is very persistent and deals high damage – but the battle arena offers you certain advantages, and the Chimera has weak points. We'll give you a few tips on how to survive the fight in the best possible way.

This is what awaits you in our guide:

  • A boss walkthrough during its three phases, including tips & tricks.
  • We explain the individual attacks of the boss.
  • We'll show you how to get suitable weapons for the fight in case you're not well-equipped.
  • After the boss fight, we also tell you where to find the exit to continue in the story.

How to Defeat the Battle Spider “Chimera” in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

You will encounter the Chimera earlier, while Songbird still has control over it and helps you. Afterward, there is a malfunction, and the battle spider takes off on its own. After a short chase, it then comes to a showdown in a factory building during the story mission “Spider and the Fly”.

These are Chimera's weak points: Right at the beginning of the fight, some spots light up on the Chimera, and you can briefly make them visible with your scanner during the fight. These are the weak points that you have to destroy.

Cyberpunk 2077 Chimera Boss Weak Points

This is how the battle against Chimera unfolds: This is precisely your task. You have to destroy all of Chimera's weak points. These are located on each of the legs, on the top of the body, and in the front and back. You can use firearms or melee combat. However, it is easier to get to the weak points with firearms, as the spider can often turn quickly, making it difficult to run after.

The Chimera will use multiple attacks against you:

  • A laser beam: A strong laser attack with high damage output. You can take cover behind the pillars, but they will break after a hit.
  • Missiles: As you can see in the picture above, the impacts of the missiles are penetratingly marked with a red marker on the ground. So don't run into them here.
  • Ground pounder: Later in the fight, the Chimera will also use a ground pounder that will damage you in a large radius, even in the air.

Once you have destroyed all the weak points, the battle enters the 2nd phase, and drones appear. Some drones attack you, while others repair the spider. You need to finish them all off before the battle continues. Take care of the drones repairing the spider with a green laser first.

In the 3rd phase, you must deal a lot of damage to bring the Chimera down to 0%. After a kind of QuickTime event at the end, the spider is already destroyed, and the first boss is defeated in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

Tip from the author: As soon as the 2nd phase starts and the drones appear, you can jump onto the spider's back. From here, you have a good overview of everything and can easily defeat the drones and bring the Chimera down to 0% from above. You only get damage here from an AoE stamper that the Chimera uses occasionally.

More Tips to Make the Fight Against the Robot Spider Chimera Easier

If you don't have enough ammunition or even too weak weapons, you should retreat right at the beginning of the fight. While the president continues to fire at the Chimera, you can calmly search the edge of the hall for loot. Here you are generally safe since there are often walls between you and the robot spider.

In the hall, you will find a lot of ammunition and some weapons that might be better than yours. So try them out. The best thing to do is to grab the heavy machine guns placed in the corners and remove them from the turrets. Provided you have invested 10 points in constitution.

These heavy machine guns cause high damage, and you can find 3 of them. However, their heavy weight makes you slower, and you can't dodge, jump, or sprint anymore. Once you have collected them, you carry them directly in your hand and can start shooting right away. However, if you change your weapon, you will drop the machine gun again.

Where to Find the Exit from the Boss Arena in Phantom Liberty

Once you have defeated the Chimera, the story mission “Lucretia my Reflection” starts, in which you should talk to Myers and optionally collect the Chimera core. Afterward, you need to look for an exit, which can easily be overlooked, as it is not marked with a quest marker either. We also looked for a bit longer until we found it; the exit is located in one of the lower corners in the form of a red cargo container.
