While playing Starfield, you have probably landed on a new planet, set up an outpost, explored for a bit and now see a bunch of “landing area” markers all over your map. If so, you might want to stick around, as we’ll show you how to remove landing area markers in Starfield.
This issue can get very annoying as you have to manually pick your outpost to land on each time you’re in orbit. But, if you follow the instructions you’ll find below, you may be able to solve this problem.
Starfield: How to Remove Landing Area Markers
Sadly, there isn’t a concrete solution to this problem, as it is a known bug that hasn’t been addressed by devs at the moment. But, there are a couple of solutions you can try that, as some players have reported, have worked for them. Here they are:
- Landing your ship far from your outpost on the same planet several times. This lets you basically move the landing area markers by creating new ones as you land and having the old ones deleted automatically. This is a decent solution, as it clears up some clutter around your outpost, but some players have claimed that it doesn’t work for them and new markers get added whenever they’re at their outpost. Still, it’s a solution worth a try.
- Other players claim that the issue may lie in the type of landing pad you use. If you use the small one, try replacing it with a bigger one.
- To fully delete the landing area markers, you will have to remove your outpost, spend a few in-game days outside the planet until the markers disappear, and start building your outpost all over again at the same spot. Just like the first one, this solution has only worked for some players, and others have claimed that it doesn’t work. So, do this at your own risk.
- Wait for a patch from the developers. This is the safest option as it doesn’t require you to do anything, but it may take some time for Bethesda to finally identify and fix this issue.

As you can see, only a patch from the developers would be a concrete solution to this problem. So, before a patch goes live, you can try using our solutions. Still, we recommend saving before trying any of them.
