Currently, there are problems with the client in Amazon’s MMORPG New World. Players report a Steam Error, more precisely an error with the Easy Anti Cheat software. We’ll tell you how to solve the problem.
That’s the problem: Currently, many New World players are reporting a Steam Error, which prevents them from starting Amazon’s MMORPG. There are two variants. Either it says:
- “Steam must be running”,
- or an “Untrusted System File” is discovered.
In both cases, a miscommunication between Steam and the Easy Anti Cheat software seems to blame. The developers already have a solution.
How to Solve the New World Steam Error
Checking New World for Missing Data: A first step in eliminating any other errors. Should you have New World checked for missing data by Steam.
- Open your Steam library and right-click on New World
- Select Properties, then Files
- There, you then select the item “Verify integrity of game files”
- Steam will scan the installation and reload incorrect or missing data
Repair Easy Anti Cheat: If all data is OK, Amazon suspects that the Easy Anti Cheat is the cause. That would also explain the untrustworthy file bug. To solve the problem, you will have to manually bring Easy Anti Cheat to repair the data. That’s how it’s done:
- Open your Steam library and right-click on New World
- Select Properties and then Open Local Data to go to the installation folder
- Start the EasyAntiCheat.exe
- Select New World in the Easy Anti Cheat and click on “repair”
