One major DLC each for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are scheduled for release in the fall and winter. Both add-on contents are grouped under the name "The Treasure of Zone Zero", and there is much more to say about Nintendo's DLC twin.
What it's about: Pokémon Crimson and Purple's open-world monster hunt is only moderately large in the base game. After about 30 hours, the credits can already run across the screen; sidequest lovers are entertained by the current Pokémon edition for at least 15 hours longer. So there's still some room for improvement here, and Nintendo intends to counteract the lack of content this year.
The Japanese video game giant has announced a larger DLC for both Pokémon Crimson and Purple. Accordingly, "The Teal Mask" will be released in the fall for Crimson and "The Indigo Disk" in the winter for Purple. The aforementioned additional content will be available separately and will at least basically tell different stories. What else there is to know about the upcoming expansions, you can find out a bit further down.
Big name, nothing behind it: Although the name "The Treasure of Zone Zero" sounds very promising, it is nothing more than an umbrella title for the soon to be released DLC double pack. As mentioned, this consists of the individual DLCs "The Teal Mask" (Crimson) and "The Indigo Disk" (Purple), which are playable independently of each other. This also means that the two expansions tell completely different stories, but according to The Pokémon Company, they are ultimately connected.
In terms of their design, the DLCs have the character of real add-ons, since they take you to regions outside of Paldea, that is, to brand-new areas. According to the developers, more than 230 pocket monsters will dwell in these areas, but not exclusively new ones. So far, only the legendary Pokémon Ogerpon and Terapagos as well as the heroes Boninu, Benesaru and Beatori have been announced. What other new (monstrous) faces will roam the unexplored lands is currently still in the dark.
In this story, you'll participate in a school trip that takes place annually in collaboration with another school. The trip goes to the tranquil Kitakami province, "whose inhabitants live at the foot of a mighty mountain". Kitakami consists mainly of rice paddies and apple orchards, and is thus set in tranquil natural surroundings.
Your arrival apparently coincides with a festival that is regularly held at this time of year. Accordingly, the alleyways of the village are filled with a variety of street vendors and market stalls. You might receive the "traditional Jinbei outfit" promised by Nintendo in the course of this festival. In addition to meeting new friends, you'll have to unravel the mysteries behind the country's traditional folk tales. Included in this DLC is the legendary Pokémon Ogerpon.
The makers are keeping rather quiet about the DLC for the purple version of Pokémon. They do, however, reveal that you will visit the Blueberry Academy as a participant in an exchange student program. This is a sister school to the Orange or Grape Academy. The interesting thing about this educational institution is that it is mostly located below the surface of the sea, where it is "entirely dedicated to Pokémon battles." This additional content includes the legendary Pokémon Terapagos.
For "The Teal Mask" and "The Indigo Disk", Nintendo will charge you 35 Euros each. So if you want to own both DLCs, you'll have to pay a total of 70 Euros. In addition, Nintendo's e-shop offers bundles of the base games and the respective additional content for around 95 Euros.
All variants can be pre-ordered immediately, although the pre-order bonuses of the individual editions differ in some cases. For example, you will receive a different quartet of school uniforms for pre-ordering "The Teal Mask" than for pre-ordering "The Indigo Disk". Common to both editions, however, is the bonus Tera-type Unlight Pokémon Hisui-Zoroark. In the pre-order version, the Hisui-Zoroark has an attack that it normally cannot learn.
Nintendo has not yet specified the release dates for both DLCs. For now, the release dates mentioned at the beginning ("The Teal Mask" in the fall and "The Indigo Disk" in the winter) apply.
