Puzzles are an integral part of Baldur’s Gate 3, as they are literally at every step. In the Lower City Sewers, you can also find one of them, and solving it is necessary to save and recruit Minsc. So below, you will learn how to solve the Sluice Gate Puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3.
The puzzle is not difficult, and you can find a hint in the place where it’s located. All the steps you need to complete it are listed below.
Baldurs Gate 3: Sluice Gate Puzzle Location
Sluice Gate Puzzle is located in the sewers, in the Abandoned Cistern, at the following coordinates: X:-205, Y:867. There you will see a large steam engine, which is the puzzle that you need to solve. At the same location, you can find a hint, near the temperature gauge. This is the letter that says the following:
“You probably want to open the Sluice Gate so you can get into the Cistern and musk it out. To do that you need to manipulate the valves to get the water level and heart level to their optimum levels at the same time. Don`t get scalded.”

To adjust the valves, you should do the following:
- Choose one character from your team.
- Approach the water valve and interact with it. This will start the meter and its level will slowly increase.
- After about 5 seconds, interact with the temperature gauge to start raising the level of this indicator.
- Now, you just need to stop and wait until both indicators reach the optimal value.
Warning: If the indicators reach their peak, a disaster will happen. Too high a temperature will cause an explosion and the water valve will discharge liquid, throwing you away.
It may take a few attempts to complete this task, but eventually, you will succeed and open the passage to go forward. If you are looking for more content like this, feel free to read our guide on how to get Hag’s Bane in Baldur’s Gate 3.
