With Update 15 in Sons of the Forest, a new light source, the Leg Lamp, has been introduced. But you'll need to find the blueprint first. We'll tell you where the blueprint is hidden and how to craft the Leg Lamp. Here's what our guide covers:
Since Update 15 on December 1, 2023, you can find the blueprint for the Leg Lamp in Sons of the Forest. You don't need to venture into one of the many caves for this; instead, you'll find it in a basement in the eastern part of the map. We've marked the location for you and will reveal what to look out for.
When you arrive at the location, you'll find a rundown shack. Enter the shack and use an axe to break through the floorboards leading to the basement. The basement is a dark cave consisting of a single room. Here, you'll find some resources like wires, light bulbs, batteries, and solar panels. But amidst these resources, you'll also discover the blueprint for the Leg Lamp.
"To build the Leg Lamp in your Sons of the Forest base after finding the blueprint, it will be added to your notebook (B), and you can place it anywhere. However, you'll need some resources and additional items to construct it and power it up:
To activate the Leg Lamp, you'll need electricity. You can generate power using the solar panel, connecting it to a battery, and finally connecting the battery to the Leg Lamp. Now, you can turn it on and off with the action button 'E'.
Whether the Leg Lamp really proves to be highly beneficial likely depends on its use. At night, you can see its glow from a distance, making it an excellent signal light when placed high atop a tower. However, if you want to use it to illuminate your camp, the surrounding area will appear darker. You're probably familiar with the effect when you look directly into a lamp in the middle of the night and then into the darkness — initially, everything seems darker, and your eyes need a moment to adjust to the darkness. The Leg Lamp in Sons of the Forest is so bright that this exact effect occurs. Everything around the lamp appears significantly darker, making it more challenging to spot enemies. This is clearly visible in the following example, where even the hut in the background is hardly discernible when the lamp is turned on.
However, the areas immediately close to the lamp are well illuminated. We recommend using the Leg Lamp sparingly in your camp, ideally as a signal lamp to help you locate your base in the dark.
