"Legacy's End" is considered one of the most challenging quest series by Starfield players. Therefore, the following guide offers assistance.

How to solve "Legacy's End" (TLDR):

  • Receive this quest from Commander Kibwe Ikande on the UC Vigilance.
  • Destroy the defense batteries and fend off attacking ships of level 30.
  • Defend against the assault on the Key or the Vigilance by using the respective object for cover.
  • Board The Key or the Vigilance and follow the mission markers there to complete the quest.

Secure Defensive Batteries Alpha, Beta and Gamma

Starfield: ship

This quest is given to you by Commander Kibwe Ikande, after which you can choose which faction to side with, namely either with The Key (and thus the Crimson Fleet) or UC Vigilance. The objectives and ending will vary depending on your faction, so choose wisely.

This objective stays the same between factions. You will need to secure defensive batteries to be able to board either the UC Vigilance or The Key later on.

Next to the defensive batteries, you will encounter quite a few level 30 enemy ships (on normal difficulty). Some players have reported that, in general, ship fights in this quest are quite difficult, so if you’re feeling stuck, feel free to lower the difficulty to decrease the enemy ships’ levels and make less of them spawn.

You’ll need to destroy them to secure the batteries and progress the quest, so get ready for a fight.

Return to The Key or the UC Vigilance

Starfield: Delgado

After securing the batteries, depending on your faction, you will need to return to either Crimson Fleet’s The Key or SysDef’s UC Vigilance.

Upon arriving at The Key or UC Vigilance, you will get a radio contact from either Commander Kibwe Ikande or Delgado, warning you that they will attack and board your base. You’ll have to defend your base, and this is where the most intense part of the quest begins.

The next objective you’ll receive is to destroy either the Vigilance’s or The Key’s escort ships.

Destroy The Vigilance's or The Key’s Escort Ships

Starfield: ship

This objective has been described by many as the most difficult part of the quest, so check out the strategy below.

This whole fight can get very tough with all the escort ships firing at you at once, so the best strategy would be to use the base as cover. Fly your ship behind one of the many parts of the base, using it as cover and picking off enemy ships one by one.

And, once again, feel free to lower your difficulty in case you’re stuck on this objective or, if you don’t think your ship is strong enough, you can always gravjump to a different planet and come back to this quest whenever you feel ready.

Once you’ve defeated the escort ships, your objective will update - you’ll need to disable the Vigilance/The Key.

Disable The Vigilance or The Key

Starfield: ship

This may be the easiest ship fight of the whole questline. Since you don’t have the whole enemy fleet attacking you, you will almost not get damaged if you keep your distance.

Simply pop a few shots at the Vigilance’s/The Key’s shields, and your allies will help you take them down. When the shields are down, you just need to get closer and hit it with everything you’ve got.

Once the enemy ship’s health bar fully depletes, you’ll progress the quest further.

Board The Vigilance or The Key

Starfield: Boarding the ship

Boarding the ship is straightforward. When you get close enough, a short cutscene will play, and you’ll be docked automatically, letting you board the ship by pressing a button.

Once you’re inside, you’ll have to make your way to the operations center.

Starfield: the Operations Center

Finding the operations center shouldn’t be a problem as your way there will be marked with objective markers, but you will encounter many UC/Crimson Fleet soldiers along your way.

Take them down using your expansive arsenal and fight your way to the command center, where you’ll have to confront either Delgado or Commander Kibwe Ikande and finish the quest.

Confront Commander Kibwe Ikande or Delgado

Starfield: Commander Kibwe Ikande

You will now have to make Commander Kibwe Ikande/Delgado stop the self-destruct sequence. When confronting them, you will be given two options - persuasion and attack. Choose whichever one you’d like. If you fail the persuasion check, you will have to attack them anyway.

And, if you’ve dealt with Commander Kibwe Ikande/Delgado by attacking them, you will have to cancel the self-destruct sequence using the computer behind them.

Return to The Key/UC Vigilance and speak with Delgado/Commander Kibwe Ikande and to collect your reward. For all this hard work, you will get 250,000 Credits and 350 EXP.
