The giant cyclops-like Hinox monsters in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom can be found all over Hyrule. Defeating a Hinox will give you valuable monster materials for crafting medicine and for your synthesis.
Here's the deal: A Hinox is a huge monster, with only one eye. We already know these enormous enemies from Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Fighting a Hinox in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom also brings you high-quality crafting materials, such as a Hinox Heart, which you can use to improve certain armor. In this guide, we'll show you where you can find Hinox monsters in Hyrule.
If you don’t know exactly where to start looking, check out our interactive map or the guide to the locations of all shrines. If you are looking for a specific shrine, you can easily find it, as well as other helpful guides, in our sorted guide overview. |
There are different types of these huge enemies. The screenshots below show you all the locations of the red, blue, and black Hinox. You can find quite a few of them on the surface and in Hyrule's depths.
Besides these three Hinox species, there is also a so-called Stalnox. This is the strongest variant of this type of monster. It manifests itself only between 10:00 p.m. and 04:00. The rest of the day it sleeps and cannot be fought. When you fight a Stalnox, there is one difference from the other monsters.
As soon as the Stalnox has very little health left, it loses its eye. It will then fall to the ground. From this point on, you must direct your attacks against the eye. The Stalnox itself will not take any more damage. Destroy the eye and the battle is won.
Each category is different in strength but has the same weaknesses. As soon as you approach them, they startle from their sleep and chase you. Arrows into the big eye are the means of choice here. An accurate hit will disable the enemy for a few seconds and you can deal damage in peace.
If you run out of arrows or your bow is broken, you can also use other tactics. Every Hinox will sooner or later hurl objects at you (trees, rocks, etc.). With your Reverse skill, you can hurl these projectiles back at them. Besides their hearts, you'll also get their toenails and teeth from these monsters.
