A late and also great side quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is "The Mysterious Eight", in which you have to find the seven orbs of the Heroines for Rotana in the underground city in the Gerudo Desert.
Here's the deal: Once you finish the side quest "The Heroines Secret" and then talk to Rotana in the Gerudo Underground City, the quest "The Mysterious Eight" will start. In this side quest you have to find the seven orbs of the Heroines. We'll explain how to do that in our guide.
If you don’t know exactly where to start looking, check out our interactive map or the guide to the locations of all shrines. If you are looking for a specific shrine, you can easily find it, as well as other helpful guides, in our sorted guide overview. |
After completing the quest "The Heroines Secret", Rotana goes to the statues of the Heroines. At the place of your first encounter with her, you can already find the first orb for the quest. Take it and carry it to the seven statues near the sand seals at the ruins.
On the statue on the far left, you can see a symbol that can also be seen on the first orb. Use Ultrahand to lift the orb into the hollow provided there, and you'll have taken the first step towards a successful ending of "The Mysterious Eight" in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom". Rotana now gives you the tip to stop by Patrizia, the court seal of Queen Rijus.
Note: You can only talk to Patrizia after you have already completed the Lightning Temple.
You can also find the second orb in the underground city, more precisely in the sleeping quarters next to the prison cell. On the right side of the wall, opposite the ladder, there are gems, rock salt, and the second orb, among other things. Stand directly under the place where the loot lies and use your ability Ascend to get to the orb. Then carry it to Rotana and place it in the third statue from the right.
The third orb of the Heroines is located nearby, namely in the bar of the underground city, also right next to the cell. In it, the orb is used by the bar owner as a backrest. The only way to get the orb is to lock the Lightning Temple. Once you've done that, the Gerudo will leave the underground city and you can carry the third orb to Rotana and place it in the middle statue.
You can find the fourth orb outside the underground city. Go to the main gate in the north and enter the city from there. Immediately turn left in an easterly direction and climb the stairs on the left in front of the sealed enclosure. At the top you will find the orb. After a tedious dragging of the heavy loot to Rotana, you can insert it there into the second statue from the left.
Enter the town again through the main gate, but this time turn right towards the west. After a short while you will come to a small waterfall, next to which lie two vases and the fifth orb. However, you won't be able to take the orb with you, because the Gerudo Velora won't let you remove it from its place. Its true owner is Talia.
Talia can only be found at the orb in the evening. Talk to her and the small side quest "Talia's Challenge" will start. In this mini-quest, you have to find a stuffed seal that Talia has hidden in the underground city within 90 seconds. Fortunately, the dialogue with Talia gives you good clues as to where to find the seal. Once you've completed Talia's challenge, you can take the orb to Rotana and insert it into the third statue from the left.
The starting point for the sixth orb is the staircase in front of the palace that leads to the underground city. To the left of it, you'll see a house with a huge pile of sand on its roof. Go to the roof with ascend and blow away the small part of the sand, which is highlighted in color, with a fan to uncover the orb.
You also need to have completed the Lightning Temple for the last orb in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Get started at the Kara Kara Bazaar. At the outer edge in the southwest of the bazaar, you'll meet two travelers who have lost their friend Ponthos. Talk to them and start the task "Lost in the Dunes".
Run to the well at the Kara Kara Bazaar on the eastern edge of the small oasis. Keep checking your exact position with the map. In the well, dig through the rocks until you are almost directly under the source of the bazaar. Here you will find the lost caravan member. Talk to him and help him out of the well by clearing the path of rocks for him. In return, you can now carry the seventh orb to Gerudo City.
If you've already started the side quest but haven't completed the LightningTemple yet, Phontos is waiting above ground at the same spot.
Once you have placed all seven orbs in the correct columns, a secret room will open up containing another giant orb. First, examine the stone tablet and then grab the orb with Ultrahand and leave the underground city with it. Outside, always run north to the "North Gerudo Ruins". When you reach the map marker, you'll find a hole in the ground. Throw the orb into it and follow the passage. In the next room, use Ultrahand to remove the stone slabs on the floor that block the passage.
Follow the passage and climb up to the middle level at the end. Run into the next room and remove the left stone slab with Ultrahand to clear the path behind it (there are some wooden arrows behind the right slab and an enemy waiting behind the middle one). Continue your way and blast your way free with bomb arrows if necessary.
After some time, you will come to the Statue of the Eighth Heroine Room, where the statue of the Eighth Heroine stands. There are a lot of gems and rupees waiting for you. Examine the stone tablet at the feet of the statue. Now return to Rotana and talk to her one last time to complete the quest "The Mysterious Eight" in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
