Many J-RPG fans would like to see Honkai Star Rail released on PS5. Well, here’s the status of a release of the futuristic hit game for the Sony console.
Honkai Star Rail PS5 release: So far, Mihoyo's sci-fi RPG has only been released in versions for Windows PCs and mobile devices. However, this is not all that surprising, since the predecessor Genshin Impact also launched on Android and iOS smartphones for the time being. But what exactly is the situation regarding a release of Honkai Star Rail for last- and current-gen consoles? We know the answer to this question.
First of all, a release of Honkai Star Rail for the PlayStation 5 is set in stone. And what's more, the veteran PS4 is also expected to be treated to its own version of the action role-playing game. This and more was revealed by the lead programmer of HoYoverse, Yang Yu, via PlayStation.Blog at the end of March.
However, the mouthpiece of the Chinese software company did not make any concrete statements: The space fantasy role-playing game will "soon be released officially for Sony's PlayStation". As mentioned, this means that a version for the PS4 is also to be expected.
Perfect! Honkai Star Rail will also burst bubblegums on Sony's PS5.
But what about a release of Honkai Star Rail on other consoles, i.e. Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch? The developers from Mihoyo have not yet commented on this topic, and there are no other indications that would speak for a release on other gaming devices than the PS5 and PS4.
Unfortunately, the fact that the successful Genshin Impact is still not available for the consoles in question more than two years after its release also speaks against serving Xbox and Switch fans. It can be assumed (as is often the case in such cases) that Mihoyo was persuaded by Sony with a large sum of money to leave the competition empty-handed.
