A flame symbol on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 weapons is causing confusion in the community - Guided Editor Kevin Willing tried to find out what is behind this & spoke to COD veterans.
What's it about? In the weapon selection in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, a red-orange symbol with a flame on it appears. Unfortunately, the developers do not explain the meaning of the fire symbol in the game's menu. We did some research and came up with the most likely result:
The flame symbol (or fire) that is causing confusion in the COD community right now is located in the weapon selection. Here, the symbol appears on one or a few weapons. There is no explanation as to what the flame means. So I looked around on Reddit, YouTube, and Co. and found no apt or clear answer. Instead, Warzone and COD fans seem to be vacillating between two possibilities:

I subsequently spoke to an acquaintance of mine, a Call of Duty veteran, and he quickly had the right answer:
The flame symbol at the weapons selection? In the menu? That is simply an XP bonus of 20%. No trends, they should always be displayed.
Sure, if the flame was a trend marker, there should be a flame at all times. I looked in the game and actually couldn't find a single flame in the weapons.
So the fire icon in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone is an XP bonus that you get when you play with that weapon.
