What is Ranked? In Modern Warfare 2’s Ranked mode, you fight for an ever-increasing rank. You have to use all your skills to compete against the best players in the world. However, there are many aspects to Ranked in Modern Warfare 2 that aren’t exactly self-explanatory. SR & all divisions in Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play explained
What is the SR? In Modern Warfare 2, your own SR (Skill Rating) is not only dependent on victory or defeat. Your team’s performance and your personal performance, kills or captured objectives, also play a role. This puts Call of Duty in a similar vein to Counter Strike and doesn’t go the way of mobas like League of Legends. Your SR determines which division you belong to, which are each divided into three levels. So far it is not fully known which SR you need for which division, but we have something for you:

- Bronze – 0 to 899 SR
- Silver – 900 to 2.099 SR
- Gold – 2,100 to 3,599 SR
- Platinum – 3,600 to 5,399 SR
- Diamond – 5,400 to 7,499 SR
- Crimson – 7,500 to 9,999 SR
- Iridescent – 10,000 to X SR
- TOP 250 – From 10,000 SR
Ranking System in Modern Warfare 2 explained: from 1 to 50 stars
How does the rank system work? All players start in Bronze 1 and work their way up. Unlike SR, you can only improve your rank by winning a victory. However, the ranking system in Modern Warfare 2 is easy to see: collect 5 stars, and you’ll get a higher rank. And it works like this:
- For every victory, you get a star.
- Get 5 stars? New rank — no new division
Your own rank has no effect on the skill group you are thrown into matches with. This second system is mainly for personal progress in Modern Warfare 2 Ranked mode. By the way, there are separate icons for each division, resulting in a total of 80 different Ranked emblems. The highest rank is 50 and for every 5 new ranks you get a reward:

- Rank 15: Pro-issue sidearm (blueprint)
- Rank 30: Weapon screen with victory tracker
- Rank 40: Pro-issue combat knife (blueprint)
- Rank 50: Ranked Veteran Player Skin
- Bronze & Silver Emblem
- At the end of the Season, a skin that shows your previous division (Gold and above)
- At the end of the Season whole skin package, calling cards & more, for TOP 250 players.
- The best player in the world will receive another exclusive package.

Which game modes & maps are played in Ranked Play?
There are three game modes at the start of Modern Warfare 2 Ranked mode. In Search and Destroy, you and your team must either plant a bomb or defuse it. In Control, you’ll fight to capture and hold zones. In the third mode Hardpoint, you’ll also have to capture zones, but this time they move across the map.
When it comes to maps, you can prepare yourself for the familiar casual maps. Six of them will then be available in Ranked Play:
- El Asilo
- Embassy
- Fortress
- Hotel
- Hydro
- Mecado
