With the release of Modern Warfare 3, Warzone is also introducing bot matches for new players & all with low SBMM, and we'll tell you what to expect.
What's happening with Warzone?
New Warzone players will initially face bot opponents before being sent to fight against real players in Urzikstan. This is intended to familiarize beginners with the game principles, controls, and gameplay. The better a beginner performs in upcoming matches, the higher their SBMM (Skill Based Matchmaking) will rise.
Once a player's Warzone SBMM exceeds a certain threshold, they are free from bot matches and play with the big boys and girls. However, it's not known exactly how long this takes or if the bots become stronger as SBMM in Warzone increases.
Even though some users are not convinced and especially warn against smurf accounts, I think the principle is successful. I (Kevin Willing) have about 300 hours in Modern Warfare 2 and was not bad in multiplayer, but in Warzone, I got slapped around. For me, as a bloody Warzone beginner, bot matches would have been just the thing to get to know the map and game functions. But still, there is legitimate criticism:
Some YouTubers and their fans suspect that industry colleagues could soon enrich themselves with fake gameplays. One could simply keep taking a new account or deliberately play poorly so that one is thrown back into bot lobbies. Then one could easily play a damn good gameplay and present it as an extraordinary performance.
Here's my assessment that somewhat refutes this: Many games that fill their lobbies with bots directly indicate whether a kill is on a bot or not. Thus, bots often do not carry typical gamer tags but have regular first and last names — or other markings.
But what do you think? Should SBMM in Warzone determine whether you play with bots or not? And do you find bots a good option to make it easier for new players to start? Share your opinion in the poll or write us a comment.
