Sons of The Forest: Find Pickaxe in this Cave - Location & Directions

The latest update of Sons of The Forest has brought a pickaxe and the new resource Solafite into the game, and Guided author Kevin Willing has found the pickaxe & shows you the way!

What items do you need to find the pickaxe?

You need the diving gear, which you can find in the north at the cave on the beach. Here we mean the cave directly opposite one of the spawns in the game, you can find it marked on the map. We also have a detailed guide on how to find the diving gear.

Where to find the pickaxe - location of the cave & directions

The pickaxe is located in a cave in the west of the map. On the GPS, you can quickly see which cave is meant, as it is located at the end of 2 lakes. The lakes themselves are connected by a river. To make your search easier, you can check our map:

The cave itself has no ordinary entrance. Instead, you only find a hole in the ground. Climb down the rope here and then follow our directions so as not to get lost:

Here you find the pickaxe in SOTF:

• Once down, go through the narrow corridor.
• Go straight ahead, then comes a river, follow its stream.
• Here you will encounter a rocky staircase, which you carefully descend.
• Below is a water-filled tunnel, through which you have to dive.
• On the other side, you will see a rock formation that clarifies the way.
• Go through it and to the right.
• Walk through the broken wooden barricade and you'll slide down.
• Again, you have to dive through a tunnel, keep right here.
• Now you should emerge in a cave and see miners hanging from the ceiling in front of you.
• The pickaxe is located to the right by a yellow ladder in a pile of Solafite.

What do you need the pickaxe for in Sons of The Forest?

Once you have found the pickaxe, you can now mine Solafite, which fortunately is also located at the find spot of the pickaxe. With the help of a smelting furnace (guide follows), you can coat your weapons with a layer of Solafite, making them extremely strong. You can improve both melee weapons and firearms in this way.

Where is Solafite? Since Update 12, you can find Solafite in almost all caves on the map. The new resource is the golden metal from which the alien buildings and the golden armor are made.
