We paid Owlcat Games a visit at gamescom 2023 and looked at Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader. The character Marazhai, which you get in the CRPG in the late game, was introduced for the first time. He is probably the strongest character in the game.
This is what’s going on: From 23rd to 27th of August 2023, gamescom will be taking place in Cologne Germany, the world’s largest games fair. We took the chance to see Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader on site and talked to the developers of Owlcat Games about it. One detail in particular stands out; the 9th companion character Marazhai – an absolute beast in melee combat that you can get in the late game.
This is What we Know about Marazhai in Warhammer 40000 Rogue Trader
Marazhai is a proud Drukhari warrior, the Dracon of the Kabal of the Reaving Tempest, is a true scion of Commorragh, who is driven by an insatiable lust for violence and power over others – things which he achieves through subtle cunning, shady deals, and – to his great delight – carnage and the agonizing torture of his enemies. He is perfect for all melee situations.
In the build we were shown, he was skilled as a fighter and assassin. In combat, this has predominantly ensured that he can dodge many attacks. In the fight we were shown, the Necrons could not harm the Drukhari as they did not hit one attack.

That already sounds very strong, but it doesn’t stop here. Marazhai has a special characteristic that makes him stronger and stronger. With each attack, he gets a bonus to his attack strength and movement – so later in the fight, he can also wipe out entire units with just one blow. Even though Marazhai is mainly a melee fighter, you can also use him in ranged combat. However, you will have to make concessions here, as he is not quite as suitable for ranged combat as he is for close combat.
